One page for what the two cities publish about themselves. Each record below tells you what it covers, when it updates, and which Filed stories were built from it. The list is curated: records that stopped updating stay here with a label instead of pretending to be live.
Source policy. Every card links to the official city dataset. Summaries are written from the records themselves, and stories that rely on another outlet's reporting name that outlet.
How this page works. A scheduled refresh pulls each record's update stamp from the official portals (DataSF and the Oakland Open Data portal) and renders the dates here in Pacific time. The "updated on schedule" dots follow each record's own cadence: live dispatch feeds are expected to move within a day, daily records within a few days, periodic records within a couple of months. Reference and archive records are labeled so a live record is never confused with a dead one.
Better 311 does not copy other publications. Our stories start from these records, and the editor gate requires a primary source for every number. Corrections are published at better311.org/corrections and never made silently.
